Hi, I'm
Carly.
English tutor. Theater kid at heart. Firm believer that the best lessons feel a lot like playing.
Former children's theater director turned English tutor
Taught across 3 continents, 8+ countries
My story starts on stage.
Before I was a tutor, I was a theater kid — obsessed with words, voices, characters, and the electricity you feel when a story lands just right. I spent years directing children's productions, watching shy kids transform into roaring lions and brave explorers, one rehearsal at a time.
That's when I understood something: kids don't learn language by being taught at. They learn it by living in it. So I took everything I knew about performance and play and poured it into English teaching.
I've taught in classrooms, living rooms, parks, Zoom calls, and the occasional circus tent (long story). Every setting has taught me the same thing — children are endlessly creative, and they rise to meet whatever energy you bring them.
Today, Carly's Classroom is my little world: a place where every lesson is an adventure, every child is a protagonist, and "I can't" is just "I can't... yet."
"Every child has a unique voice. My job is simply helping them find the right words to share it with the world."
The kinds of conversations
we have.
Storytelling & Drama
We act out stories, play characters, and discover the magic of narrative. Kids become heroes, villains, and narrators — all in one class.
Conversation Club
Real talking, real listening. From "how was your day?" to debating whether dragons are better than unicorns — fluency through genuine chat.
Creative Writing
Letters, poems, tiny novels. Every child has a story to tell — we find the words, rhythm, and confidence to write them down.
Reading Adventures
Books are portals. We read together, dissect characters, ask big questions, and develop comprehension that sticks.
Game-Based Learning
Word games, board games, improv games, quiz games. If it's competitive and fun, it probably ends up in Carly's classroom.
Culture & Connection
English is a window onto the world. We explore idioms, accents, global stories — building real cultural fluency alongside language.
